What are they worth

Can anyone tell me how much a pair of forks from a 748, 1998 are worth. they are in very good condition.

I've seen them going for £125 although I sold a mate some for less than that, but it does depend on condition and if they are the nitride coated ones or not

Thanks for the quick reply.

I thought about £100 ish they are the normal Chrome versions.

Have you had any experience of fitting different wheel into ducati forks.

Why i ask is i plan to use a ducati front end on a Yamaha tzr special. but the original ducati front wheel is to wide. I really need to use a 3.00 / 3.25 so will nee to change bearings to fit ducati spindle or some how convert the tzr pinndle to fit the ducati forks.

any advice you can give would be appreciated

My mate that Had my forks put them into a Cagiva Mito frame using the Mito front wheel etc.
You can always bush both fork leg spindle holes down to 20mm and just put a spindle right through, or get one of the bushes threaded for the spindle to screw into, lots of ways to do these sort of things

Thanks Skidlids. you have been most helpful.
I think the bushes into the forks and use the original tzr spindle sounds a good idea. the idea of threading one bush for the spindle to screw into sounds perfect.

many thanks

One bush will have to have the 30mm outside diameter so may be the best one to thread if doing them out of alloy, but a few bikes alread have a threaded captive bush like ZXR750Js, TL1000S and a like. One of these may be suitable, I will check a couple of my other bikes when I have the chance, possibly this evening

Springs on the Ducati forks might be a bit hard for a TZR

skidlids 14-Nov-2005 12:58

Could depend on the TZR special, last one we did had a DR650 motor in it
