suspending while stripping Hi I’m about to strip my 888 down to bare frame. Supporting the bike/frame is obviously going to be a problem. I have an engine hoist suspended from my garage ceiling which I thought I could use to support to 4 corners of the frame whilst removing the swingarm and engine etc. The only problem is that it will be swinging freely once the wheels are off but I cant think of any better way. Anyone got any better suggestions Cheers Andy :puzzled: |
Take the front end off and lower the engine to the floor. Then making sure that the engine is properly supported take the frame off the engine. At that point take the swinging arm off the back of the engine. That way you haven't got any large heavy lumps swinging about to cause any harm! |
I removed everything from around the engine, rather than removing the engine from the frame. To remove the forks/swingarm I supported the engine as in pic,and finally lifted the frame up from the engine. |
How did you raise the bike initially to get the axle stands underneith? |
Get down to Ducati and get one of these...... |
Tut....Poser |
How much did that cost then? Cant have been too cheap if its a Ducati item?:bouncy: Bloody good though! |
From memory, about £70 |
It's the wrong time of the year, mine's in a 100 bits too, or I'd loan it to you. Rgds, Rob |
It would take too much to make one. A couple of scissor jacks and a frame made from angled steel would basically do the job. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................... Guess what I'm doing this weekend.:eureka: |
