swing arm - can it be powder coated Hi, I have a 2003 749s and painted the swing arm gloss black before the bike went on the road. It's now showing it's age, so, over winter I plan to strip and re-paint it or I have considered Gloss black powder coat in the hope that the finish is longer lasting than paint. Couple of questions : Can and how do you protect the area were the chain adjuster slides. Easy with paint but not sure how you do it with powder coat. Anyone done this and at what cost ? Is there another option ? |
powder is good. just ask the person who is doing the job to mask off what ever you don't want painted. much the same as normal painting |
Whoever is doing the job will mask the surfaces that need to be protected... |
yer very very nice,:flame::burn::burn: |
Had mine done after a small excursion into the gravel.:D:D |
Mine is actually Stove Enamelled, I find this a harder wearing finish to Powder and looks alot nicer as its not as shiny. Also, if you need to touch up at any stage, the finish makes it less noticeable No pics on pc at the moment but will post a couple tomorrow so you can make an informed decision. Steve. |
Nelly's just had a 996 swinger coated for Northernbstard as well as his frame.... looks the biz in satin black but he can get gloss done too. The firm he uses are very careful with bearing surfaces etc & very reasonable price wise with a fairly quick turnaround. |
Sorry about the delay! Pic as promised. |
and another! Cheers. |
hi nice work how much did it cost and was it a quick turn around? |
