My sister (ironically bother her and her husband are officers in the met) had their house broken into earlier this year. Took 2 new cars off the drive.

Good advice.

IMHO, sometimes its worse to hide your keys! It depends on the determination of the Offenders..........how far will they go to get them! Its worth the warning!

Dont get me wrong, i know this lowlife better than most, and more to the point the unpredictability of them, i never cease to be amazed!

Just be careful as you might well escalate the situation into something that could of been avoided or worse regretable!

they may be nutters!!!!

Dont get me wrong. I know i have visited many an occasion of this type. The thoughts always go through my head, "if they did that to me, id"..................

in reality, i guess i would react like most others.

and i do hide the keys! However, my garage is like Fort Knox now, it would take a while to get in with out an invite. Hopefully that would put these scum off!

There was an interesting program about "how to handle burglars" on Sky a little while back, hosted by part-timer Chris Ryan.

It was quite interesting and he certainly gave some good advice about what (and what not) to do. I don't want to try and recall it all as I'll only get it wrong, but if you've got Sky (or can download the program) then it's worth watching. I think the series was called "Could You Survive...".

Its x-mas shopping time again.

I know, as we are in security systems and are very busy!

Make sure you are vigilant and lock up on all occassions and if you have an alarm USE-IT.

A potential customer had keys stolen and the burglars went off in the sons car with the loot, only to return two weeks later to take Dads BMW (that car again) with the keys they had. Why dont people do something about it, like change the locks??

Personnally, I lock all keys up in a safe at night and of course we are very, very secure with alarms, cameras, locks, etc... but do remember to have a door keys handy in case of a fire.

Best security alarm for the house?
A dog with a loud and fierce bark.
Train it not to touch food until it is told to. That way when the scum bags drop the poisened meat (yes these toe-rags do that) through the letter box the dog won't touch it.

We've had a couple of prowlers round the back but they decided the better of it when our mutt kicked off.
Previous mutt has saved two of my bikes in the past. Had to be parked outside in the front yard. Dog in the front room, 3AM bike tea-leafs sneak in, dog kicks off tries to jump through front room window, bellowing it's head off.
Would be thieving scumbags were so far up the street by time I got down stairs they were almost out of sight. And I was down there in treble quick time too.
Next best thing make friends with OAP's across the road, best street security system devised, any strange persons moping around the place or checking out the house and they're straight on the phone. Right on. :) And good for taking parcels in when they get delivered and you're not home.
Word soon gets round the criminal fraternity which bits of town to avoid.

Ains.

I got burgled last year, they found my spare keys and loaded up my car with all the goodies.
