Insurance rip off Why is it that you get your car insurance renewal at £696.58... you run your details through confused.com and your own company comes up with the exact same cover for £410.99! We've obviously taken the lower premium but when I asked NU Direct for an explanation I was told... " Yes, we've had a few of those, we'll match the cheaper quote... " Confused.... no, just very nearly ripped off! :flame::flame: |
Funny as some people I know have saved hundreds doing that, guess it just depends on the motor and circumstances |
I got a cheaper quote with Ducati Insurance than my previous lot - NU. When the paperwork arrived, guess who the underwriter was??? You guessed it - NU !!!!! :puzzled: |
Same thing happened to me. My renewal came in from More Than. I then went onto their website and saved £30. I then went through one of these Insurance supermarket website and saved a further £25. You do have to check all the small print and make sure you are getting like for like cover. |
it gets better, I got my renewal quote from NU and witout any shopping around just phoned them and said they were too expensive, so they knocked £80 off, so I said it was still too expensive and they took another £20 off, so on we went till they said they coudn't reduce it anymore. Apparently they now say they issue the lowest quote possible first time........... which is obviously true from the experiences above :frog: still at least they pay out unlike Direct Line home insurance, check your exclusions boys.....b45st4rds!! |
Just got off the phone with Budget yesterday about this. Renewal comes through at £380, confused.com comes in at £277 (with Budget). They agreed to go with the net price though but i was tempted to tell them to stick it for trying to rip me off for £100. However the £277 quote was one of the cheapest. |
That's the only reason NU got my cash this time... they were £80 cheaper than anyone else on the revised quote. |
Yea the story goes on.... Had a Cannondale mountain bike stolen years ago. I checked all the small print and put my claim in for £1500 which was what i thought the value of the bike was. It was also the limit on my insurance policy. Because of the value the insurers insisted i got two quotes for the bike. Two quotes came in at around £2k. Insurance lady said that because the claim was over £1k they needed to see the garage it was stolen from and what steps i was taking to stop future theft. Anyway she came round, looked and said i had a very nice house. Weird. Next things she says is it was my fault because i lived in a nice area! She then says ignore the £1500 limit and put the two quotes in for £2k. Two days later they phone me and say here's a bike for £2k, phone the shop and tell em what size and colour you want. Next year my insurance went down. Explain that one??? |
Having been the victim of thievin bar stewards I submitted my claim on what I thought was my comprehensive like for like insurance policy (even said so in all the adverts) but guess what, it's only like for like for those items not excluded in the small print - which includes bikes (mountain variety), leather clothing, and bedlinen:o |
colonade once told me that new costomers get an extra 17% off so as to attract new buisiness so if you had full no claims like i did. you will often get a jump in cost for your second year. |
