slipper clutchs what one to buy
 

xmas time and the wifes giveing me ££££££££ so its bits for the bike time ,, got or getting loads of carbon so thinking about a slipper clutch , which one to go for ?? help please

STM 48 tooth.Absolutely superb.

got a bucci,havnt had it fitted yet (waiting for jon-HELLO).:D

personally I would go for the ball and ramp stile slipper as used by the race teams.
I like the idea of the 48 tooth basket ?(although you then have to buy STM plates.
but I am not a fan of the single diaphragm workings of the STM clutches.
much better IMO are the conventional pillar spring mechanism.
have a look on flea bay under Niki 748 they often have ex superbike items for sale that a few on the board have had.
otherwise I know sigma can supply a copy of the Ducati Corse item

i have a bucci one, ball and ramp style. wicked peice of kit, similair to what bayliss used in 2001. would recommend it to anyone

pedro its fairly easy to fit but you will need a mate to give you a hand, i di mine myself but will get it checked over in my next service

I've used a Diaphragm 48 tooth and an STM 6 post 12 tooth.

The Diaphragm used to "kick-back" through the lever quite hard when it slipped, which I found obtrusive.

So I flogged it and put in my old 6 poster. Finickey to set up, but works great when done.

Careful you use alloy plates, as the steel ones knacker the alloy baskets.

I think the STM 6 poster was about £400 from Casoli (a while back).

BUCCI everytime. thats what Ducati fit, so JHP are fitting one on mine.

I think I've ended up with your old 48 stm on my bike now Tim!

Blimey!!! - does it still slip???? ;) That's a well travelled slipper clutch then.
