SS wheels ?

Are the wheels weak ? Both ours on the 600SS are out of true. They are going to need straightening.
If they can't be repaired how much should we pay for another set and which models share the same wheels ?

Thanks

Yes they are quite soft and do bend easily if kerbed. The fonrt is fairly common throughout the range, but the back is specific to the 600/620 (it is narrower)

From memory Hagons in Hainault Essex straighten them out for a reasonable fee.

ta Chris, looking into repairs now :)

Just been offered a spare gold front if you are interested

twpd 22-Dec-2005 15:44

I have a spare set available in red without discs. They appear straight but, I can't be 100% sure atm. I think the front takes a 25mm spindle.

Rim sizes 3.5" x 17" and 4.5" x 17".

I'll verify the details tomorrow if you're interested.

Thanks all. Awaiting the diagnosis on ours, some kind fellow has leant us a set to use next week, Nige I'll let you know asap about your set too :)

No worries. You don't want an 800ss either, do you? 2 in fact?

couchcommando 22-Dec-2005 15:59

Why are you selling yours ?, if so why ?

twpd 22-Dec-2005 16:21

Yes I am going to be selling them.

I'm changing my plans and giving up racing. The reason I am doing this is because the bike has an integrated instrument panel, ECU and ignition key/lock which are coded together. The bike cannot be run without the original instrument panel which, means I cannot use a race item. If the std item gets mashed in a crash then I'm snookered and can't start or use the bike until a new item is purchased and then coded to match the existing items. As a new instrument panel is silly money then it's not financially viable.

There is a way around this by using an FIM ECU which, bypasses the immobiliser etc. but, it is prohibited within the Minitwin regs.

I asked for a change in the rules but, this was denied.

Refer to the Mintwins airbox thread in Race for more details.

Oh and the crap race calendar was the bit that finally persuaded me that enough was enough!
