Which chain lube Hi all, i've been using castrol chain wax for the last umpteen years but i hate the white mess it leaves and i'm considering a change back to a more 'conventional' lube - even if it means cleaning the back wheel and sprockets a bit more often. Any suggestions? What about a scottoiler on a 996? all suggestions welcome. I even used to wipe engine oil on my chains with a cloth at first which was actually pretty good. Cheers ! |
WD 40, cant get better. |
Agree with Adam WD40, some say it damages the O rings, but never experienced it myself. Cleans the chain, keeps the rust away, you get no build up and it's an excellent lube. |
3 in 1 oil, less than a quid from your local pikey shop. Just keep the chain clean (I use WD40) and apply often. |
Wurth Dry Chain Lube, great stuff, hardley flings, very good.:D Chris.:burn: |
scottoiler all the way just leave and forget for 1000 miles the fill up! |

I've used Castrlol chain wax as well, the white build up is not the best sight but I do like the way it works and does not end up all over the bike. Tend to wax the chain and leave the bike to stand for 24 hours, then spin the back wheel while it's on the stand and wipe off the excess wax. |

I'd be interested as well. Does anyone have a Scottoiler on a 996? Pros? Cons? |
