Removal of the adhesive of wheel balance weights

Has anyone found a successful way of removing the Gunk left from old wheel balance weights. I have been using stronger and stronger solvent but nothing seams to be budging it!!

Any suggestions?

Normaly warm the area up with a hair dyrer and peel off. then use a bit of pannel wipe (degreaser) it all should come off

I use an old washing-up pad (the ones with sponge on one side, and a mildly abrasive pad on the other, soaked with lighter fluid (Ronsonol). A tin of lighter fluid is really handy to keep around the house. There's nothing better when you accidently tread oily bootmarks onto the living room carpet... :o

WD40 gets it off a treat

The hairdryer worked great, now ive just to clean the chain lube of it before the wife gets home!

Many Jewellers use lighter fluid to remove the mess left behind when they remove stickers etc

White spirit also works but do it as soon as you remove the old weights

If none of the above work use Petrol soaked on a rag, it will take it off no probs.
