ECU purchase.

A puzzling point,is it reasonably straight forward to order a new ECU chip? Like say you want the upgraded one that would come with a Termi zorst? What kind of cash do they cost? (Ok so that was 2 questions!):P

Put the exhaust on, keep your original CPU on........and pay for a pc111 and a bit of dyno, itll be cheaper and better.

Andy..Cheers for that. It is just I read somewhere that someone was suggesting that yes you can remap the fuelling with the PCIII but there would require some timing alterations also...which only an upgraded ECU could do?
Just gets a bit dificult at times when people provide conflicting info.:puzzled:

You don't need any timing alterations??? Plenty of people myself included run a PCIII. You could buy a PCIII for less than £200 and download a map which if you're lucky matches your current bike/exhaust etc and it will still be better than the Ducati ECU, or if you're still not happy get some dyno time to get it set-up exactly for your bike

JPM...Sounds the way to go for me! Cheers.

Entirely subscribe to Andyb's & JPM advice, but thought I would throw in the fact that I fitted a pre-mapped Power Commander III to my '03 749s when fitting second-hand termi system (as you probably know, used ecu unit is not transferrable) and found that it ran perfectly, meaning that expensive dyno time was not necessary. Get the right pre-mapped PC, and you could be lucky!?

THX for that Ricco.:burn:

Veet

Think others have answered but for what it's worth have a 748 with Termis - told I didnt need a chip with the 45mm cans but found out to my cost that you do really! New chip £130 and recommend new ITG filter - bike ceased running on full cylinders until I sorted this out. And runs fantastic.

By the way, good shout for ProTwins for sorting this out (at a cost!)
