Bologna/Forli

If you fly Ryan Air to Forli is there a coach link direct to Bologna or do you have to get a bus to the local Rail connection,I dont want to hire a car thanks.
The cheapest direct flight to Bolonga I could find £147 with BA compared to £13 with Ryan air its just the transfer from Forli
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bet the hire of a car would be cheaper than the train................and gives so much more independance!

Cheers Andy
I cant be arsed with driving over here let alone with some mad italians.
my daughter spent 2 weeks around Italy last year by train and she said there better than over here so i thought id give it a go.

You literally come out from forli airport onto a dual carriageway and straight up to Bologna............passing all sorts on the way....Imola....ferrari factory............etc up to the ducati factory thats outside the city centre, and round the corner from a McDs!

Its about 30 miles i think.

I have used a coach service in the past that leaves the airport for the main railway station in bologna.its a regular service I think.

Form Forli, get a taxi to the train station -short trip so shouldn't cost much.

Then buy a ticket either from the ticket office or from one of the automated systems (in one of 6 languages!) to Bologna. It's one train, no changes required. Cost is 6 euros for the slow train (lots of stops) and takes about 1 hr 15 mins, or go for the Intercity option that takes 35 mins and costs 11 euros. Sometimes (in summer) the Intercity trains get fully booked so you have to stand - at busy times I recommend getting a reserved seat. This time of year shouldn't be a problem.

Full Italian train timetables are available online at http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

I've used the Italian trains when on holiday in Northern Italy many times without a problem. They're exceptionally good value when compared to BR and generally run on time. Since Forli to Bologna is on a main route, you should have any problems with getting a train to suite your needs.

The coach from the airport to Bologna is for the main Bologna airport - Ryanair doesn't use this airport - BA/Easyjet do.

TP 05-Feb-2006 19:59

EasyJet actually fly to Bologna airport so they're a lot closer than Forli airport. I found all this out after my rental car debacle last year ...

I don't know how the transport links work from there but I believe it is on the train line. It's worth a look.
