Don't leave your sat-nav holder in your windscreen, even if you take the main unit into the house. Chav scum broke my passenger window last night in the hope that I had left it in the glovebox.

I know it sounds obvious but I got lazy, thinking it would be fine as the car is right outside my house and I'm not so lazy as to leave the unit in the car.

Insurance covers the replacement window so it's only costing me the £50 excess but then there's the aggro of waiting to get it fixed.

This was compounded by the fact that I was using the car to pick up my wife and daughter from the hospital (she is fine though - false alarm) but was not something I really needed.

On the bright side though, the model portfolio of the stocks that I cover is up eur4m today so I'm a pretty happy bunny otherwise (although not as happy as if I was playing with real money).

There is a big police campaign up here in the north about vehicle safety and thats exactly one of the things mentioned, along with not leaving any bluetooth accessories and if possible phone cradles visible.

Just watch out for them shards of glass - they get bloody everywhere !!!

I've heard of this a few times now, they see the suction cup holder thingy and they assume the satnav is in the car

Sadly yes Chi - I went mountain biking and left my car in what I thought was a very remote and hense safe place...sadly some scum broke in rumaged through the car and took my kit bag with a change of clothes in.

Sad thing is - the police recovered my bag with all the clothes in - all that was missing was the 50p or so that I kept in there for emerg phone calls. But of course, the problems it caused were totally disproportiate!

Yeah - they broke in though the side window (didnt even bother with the quarter window) and even though I hoovered up as well as possible, I was still finding shards of glass months later - had to be very careful with daughter in the car - bare feet are still banned!

The real bummer in all this is that the car owner is to blame for leaving things in his own car in this day and age. Surely it's the thieving bast*rds who break in and nick stuff that are the real villains or are we so used to spin now that we feel really awful for tempting some poor pikie into breaking in to our car/house/shed/wife/daughter.................................???:(:mad ::mad::mad:
