Cooling system on a 996

I've just added just over 2 litres of coolant to my bike, I ran it so that the coolant could circulate and watched the temp rise.

First off, how do I know it is all correct and everything is pumping around as normal?
Secondly, the temp gauge went to just below 3/4 and the fan didn't kick in, sould it have?
And lastly, there was an awfull lot of light smoke, now I did manage to spill a bit of coolant down the front:rolleye: and the engine did get a bit of a clean with WD40 over the winter so is this to be expected?

Many thanks

Dave

Fill the cooling system cold, and squeeze the hoses to work the coolant around the system. When the coolant level remains at max, on the tank, then it's full and all the air has gone.
Don't take the cap off until it is cold though.

The fan doesn't come in until the needle is quite a way over to the right. Past 3/4 for sure.

The smoke will be the coolant, the WD40, gasket sealer, grease etc. burning off. Wouldn't worry.
