Cleaning Again Hi Guys I'm looking for the best methods for cleaning break calipers I know I've seen it somewhere on the board but can't find it now, do you know? Murray Mint |
bet I was the last person you wee expecting on here .. but here goes .... http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm....php?tid=26845 |
i honestly didn't find anything that's great at doing this task, and i tried lots of things. it depends how embedded the dirt is i guess. Brake cleaner was decent... but you don't get it all off... WD-40 was pretty good... again, not 100%.. i'm going to try Autoglym in the next few days and see how i get on... will post up the answers. |
Dibs.. Oxymoron, mean amything to you? and that was the thread i was looking for, thanks. Steve, look forward to your findings. Murray [Edited on 10-2-2006 by Murray Mint] |
I have actually had a lot of sucess using Manista hand cleaner and an old tooth brush to work it in. Give them a quick spray of brake cleaner 1st on the stubborn areas. Also Autoglym alloy wheel cleaner really does shift brake dust deposits off my wire wheels |
Alloy wheel cleaner works, but make sure you soak them before and after as it's pretty evil stuff, quick once over don't leave it on for long |
I was told to use only water and washing up liquid, as brake cleaner, WD40, etc... are not very kind with pot seals... |
