DIY Exhausts?? Been looking at this: www.aa16.co.uk/a16exhaustparts.htm With carbon cans at such a high price, whats to stop you buying all the bits and making them yourself? After all, they are just a perforated tube packed with sound deadening inside a carbon tube....aren't they?? I'm sure its too easy and there must be a good reason why this is a ridiculous suggestion, but I can't think of one....... |

Hi mate, Alot of us do already. I know Senna3 has and I've done a couple of complete under seat systems for the scootershop DD bkes. |

I'm making up my own for my S2R using the original sleeves and A16 internals. Been interesting so far. |

Back in the early 1980's, a cash-strapped mate made a can for his CB125 from a cone made with a rolled up Duckham's oil-can and a load of coke can lids pot-riveted inside as baffles. It was certainly cheap and, considering the engine at the other end, made a mighty impressive noise, but I don't think it would cope with a 996's power pulses, so I'll stick with my Termis. |

If you're interested I've got a pair of carbon outer sleeve sections and stainless clips & straps which I bought to do this very thing, but got a cheap set of termi's before I had the chance to make my own. I think I paid about £90 for them . I will let you know sizes etc f you might be interested ( At a significantly reduced price of course). Phil [Edited on 17-2-2006 by philthy] |
