IT help required please

Still I did get to watch super pole for the very first time. After an absence of 8 years I have finally got sky+ again :)
I have been out and bought one of those transmitter / receivers so that I can watch it wirelessly. The trouble I have is that the remote control only works intermittently and it’s always a game of Russian roulette if it works or not. The other problem, if it is a problem is. Is it necessary to have the main television switched on in order to watch something on another telly? I was quite disappointed when I switched the main box off and found I had to treck back into the lounge again to switch it back on.:(

I have a video sender setup from Maplin's. In order to be able to view the Sky box and DVD(Recorder) I built a scart lead with a fly lead for the video sender. As the Sky box is daisy chained through the DVD to the TV I am able to view either via the video sender. I too have problems with the remote extender. It does not work with the sky remote and requires a small transmitter to be placed ahead of the device you are trying to control. I have junked this bit and have to trail downstairs to change things. Not ideal but I got the video sender cheap in one of Maplin's sales.

This is like the lead I built

But this is for audio only. I also tapped into the video feed.

The TV does not have to be on just the device you want to view.

Hello Jon

some of us are still watching snooker on a B/W tv:lol:

maybe not related but wireless networks with computers, have a problem with signals, due to interference from things such as metal, walls, wireless phones and distance they have to transmit. This can be resolved in some cases by trying different channels the signal is tranmitted.

But maybe no help to you:(

regards

Thx Chris, I wish I could say righty ho I will go and do it!! I haven't a clue what you did with the scart lead. I have the Phillips sender. It allows two items to be transmitted by either channel one or channely two. Before the sky box was fitted it was connected to the video. I had no problems changing channels, so it seem correct in what you say about the sky remote:( concerning the problem of not being able to view while the telly is in standby mode, I need idiot proof destructions that a 5 year old could follow:eureka:

Topitoo I've been watching things in b&w for years, I'm colour blind:o
How right you are with the signal problem, just having a metal lamp at the side of the receiver caused all kinds of interference. If the wife ever puts the microwave on while watching, it wipes the picture & sound out completely
