Kawasaki !!!! Bit of a different one this, but do we have anyone who knows much about early ZXR750s, an import 89 model. A mate has one and it seems to be restricted - it's a bit breathless at the top end and will only do about 120. The engine is still in very good condition - 20000 miles. I seem to remember they did some restrictions using carb tops? Any ideas. :puzzled: |
have a look on mcnninjas.co.uk very helpfull bunch of misfits:lol: look for" michael a " knows more and has more spares in his back garden then kawasaki themselves Simon [Edited on 25-2-2006 by HUNT749] [Edited on 25-2-2006 by HUNT749] |
Thanks matey, we've posted the question on the ninja site. |
IIRC some were restricted to 100bhp (the French ones) but, even then it should be a fair bit faster than that so, I don't think restrictors are the answer. Later J's were also restricted again (the metallic blue and burgundy ones) and even then they would do about 143. [Edited on 25-2-2006 by twpd] |
Oops sorry. forget the 120mph bit, that was me misunderstanding what he said. The speedo doesn't go past 180 KPH - about 120 mph, so he can't tell what speed it is actually pulling in top. |

As a previous 750zxr owner i found the best source of info on the 'net for all 750's is here... http://www.redmonkey.com/7r/ The site has been going for years and it's on a similar par to this DSC site for excellent knowledge, passion for the bikes and friendliness too. Good luck. |
can't help it.... gotta show my old beloved kwak off.... |
Steve, a mate of mine had an import and the exhaust down tubes were a smaller diameter than the UK model he had to weld down pipes from a UK exhaust to the rest of the system, he got a lot more umf out or it after that |
