916 fuel cap

Can anyone suggest a good way to clean the outer silver edge of the fuel cap on a 916.

The silver paint has flaked off with age and as I have just had the tank sprayed and want It to look nice.....:D

It comes off very easily you know - just get those allen keys out !

Sorry but I have got the fuel cap off I just want to clean up the outer edge....:puzzled:
