Hi Nigel, I just right-clicked on your Avatar red coross box and this is what I get as the properties. "http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xmb/avatars/Nigel%20C.gif" The file looks remarkably like a GIF to me rather than a Jpeg (no guesses to how I deduced that :D) Regards, Guy |
I'm having the same problem when I try to upload a new Avatar image. My old one was a Gif, but the system won't seem to accept my new jpg. |
i've been using gif images with no problem up till now, the red cross is the old gif |
Try deleting it, or setting it to no avatar. Then save it. Then go back and try upload your new one. That's worked for me before. |
OK, here's what I've discovered.... If you're using Firefox and you're image is too big, in terms of dimensions, then you're returned the message, "file should be in jpeg format ". Try the same thing in Explorer and you get a more useful message about the image being too big. Mine was 132x160 and you're only allowed 155x155. So, resize your image down to 155x155 and all will be well. |
mines 80 x 80 , never mind i'm sure i can manage without an avatar till i get it sorted [Edited on 28-2-2006 by Nigel C] |
Having had similar problems in the past I found you had to wait a couple of hours for any new images that you upload for avatar's to take effect. |
just a small update still no luck with the avatar but i tried to add some more text to my signature and got the same "file should be jpg format " error message |
