Who makes 16.5 inch wheels? Apart from:
Just doing some costings :D They will go into a 1000SS but I fully appreciate there may need to be some customisation to get them to fit. The rear would need to be a minimum 6 inches wide. |
OZ, PVM?? |
If you're looking for new ones, then I suspect you already have a pretty good idea what they cost. As you say, for an SS bike, you might struggle for a drop-in replacement. Most such wheels that fit Ducatis are either single sided swinging arm wheels or 999RS stuff. Certainly just about every front wheel will be for a "wide track" front-end, making it probably a struggle with fitting brake discs or even the wheel itself. Large axle issue can sometime be overcome with using a different spec bearing, but not always. If you're prepared with dealing with the customisation most likely required, then you might look at some used one from say a gixer thou. There is one here Do you really need it for Thunderbike racing? |

No But if this bike goes ahead, it will be all about want and excess, not need. :D |
You better hope that some novice on a 695 Monster on Diablos doesn't embarrass you then :lol::lol: |

Won't it be difficult to get tyres to fit? |

No. If you've got enough cash ... not a lot of choice I'll grant you ... but the WOW will still be 17in. It is for the tyre choice that I'll have that I'm looking at going 16.5in rims. You can't get the stickiest and best slicks in a 17in fitment. They are all made in 16.5in sizes now. So, if you want the best rubber you can get your hands on, you need 16.5in rims. :D |
