Embarrassing 620 Sport Question ...
 

Well I feel a right numpty asking this but how do you get the front wheel out .... no laughing at the back now :D

The bike's jacked up with the front wheel spindle out but the wheel cant be removed because the calipers are in the way, so I removed the caliper bolts and tried to slide the calipers off the discs, but the calipers could not be taken off the disc because the back of the calipers touch the wheel rim. I even took the front guard off to try and rotate the fork lowers slightly to give eveything abit more clearance, but because the calipers still sit on the discs that didn't work either.

Do I have to take the discs (with calipers still attached) off the wheel to allow the wheel to be removed, surely not?

Am I missing something? (I know I'm setting myself up here :P )

Can other 620SS owners remove their calipers from the discs easily enough to allow the front wheel out?

Twist the caliper to the side this will open the pads slightly and allow you to get them out.

The calipers are a tight ish fit, but you should be able to wiggle them off.

Try pushing the pads back in a bit by pushing the caliper against the disk, that may give you a little bit of room to ease the caliper off.

You always need to take the calipers off to remove the front wheel.

As you slide the calipers off of the disk, you can angle them and as a result push the pads (pistons) back in the calipers. This will give you enough room to remove the calipers.

It is a tight fit though and you may want to put some tape on your rims to prevent scratching them with the calipers when you're removing them.

When re-installing them, you will probably need to use a screwdriver to push the pads back to give you the clearance required.

Care and patience and you'll be fine.

Just be careful that you don't push the pads back too far if your brake master cylinder reservoir is full of fluid !!!
