Early SS Bodywork onto 2005 Bike ? Just a thought, would the early SS bodywork fit onto a 2005 bike ? I was assuming it would as I've got an early tank on my later race bike. I prefer the look of the early 600/750/900SS but like the later 1000 chassis and motor :) |
Just do it - plenty of cheap bodywork to be had and you could always try Ricambi-Weiss although the ssie stuff I bought from them was crap. Dom Clegg bought some pattern old-style SS bodywork from someone - he's happy with it. PM him. |
Definately want to do it, we were going to buy another 600 which would mean I can rob that of all the road fairings etc so it's just a case of finding a clean 1000 for sensible money :) |
Missed one on ebay the other day - it went for £2850!!!! RU gonna race one in Thunderbikes? |
I've been looking for one tonight on Biketrader. £4500 is the cheapest I found so far. |
I hope you can do it...but TWPD is right try for Ricambi-Weiss...could could buy a couple of sets to try to get it right... I would love to see the final result...good luck... |
I think you might have to do a bit of work; the headlight mounting bracket is quite a bit different, with the mirror mounts further back on the injection bikes |
How about this? This is where I think am going with my 800ss racer: ![]() I like the semi-faired look and it should have the benefit of improved cooling for the tweaked motor. |

I also like very much that semi fairing (ricambi-weiss seems to have those for sale) but I'm not sure about the better cooling because the original fairings have funnels directing cool air to the rear cylinder. |
nige that's real nice :) I do however love the look of the superlight900, so much if I can find a Sl at the right price in mint condiion I may buy that instead ! |
