pedro 10-Mar-2006 20:39

it in the blood mav. if the intentions thier, you want to do it.

skidlids 10-Mar-2006 20:42

Mav before you go any futher you need to blag a ride on a 998 with the Testastretta lump.
then the decision making gets harder Gixer or 996 or 998

I know what your saying skids!
here is how it went!
I came out the \M.O.T station and burbled along the A5 towards lichfield, and then turned right along the A515 towards Ashbourne! After about 3 miles, and a steady pace i dropped the old girl a couple of coggs and started to fettle the Bitch into submission:lol:

Winding her on, whilst listening to the throb of the pistons working against each other, before geting a modicome of temp into the tyres;)

it was only then that i felt the bike was submitting to my needs, and entering the corner on a closed throttle, she began to yield, A slight twitch as i forced some more gas into the throttle bodies, and found the sweet spot, as the revs grew high towards the red line!
the next bend was a smooth 145 deg curve, that ran off camber, but the Bitch held the line as if it was on rails! A short shift from 4th to 5th mid corner, did upset the old girl , but still she held her head and poise:D:D and begged for more:smug:
From there on in ,it was heaven !, cicking between 5th and 6th and running around the 140's
only the sound of the desmo valve gear humming in my un-plugged ear's
from there i tipped the old girl into the island, and returned along the same route home! funny how the bike feel's different when you do the same road the other way around!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe it's the bias, working against you! or maybe it's the Mind working AGAINST THE BIAS?
who really has the answer?
all i know is that the bike works in harmony to the way i ride!!

all in all , man and machine in perfect harmony!!;)

Mav you big mincer, get rid of yer "plastic gangster" road rocket ridden by monster doormen and get back onto something that only a true performance motorcyclist would desire .... a 996 ... it has to be lumpy & thumpy ... testastrettas are for people obsessed with chasing R1s .... the "oooooh I need more power as my mates are quicker in a straight line .... boooo hoo hooo" ...... then buy a chuffing R1 .... not aimed at Skids .... he's quicker than Ron Jeremy at a Playboy Bunny birthday party ..... :)

Me I'm spoilt I am
One 996Bip with 54mm Exhaust and JHP chip to suit, lengthended Swingarm, Penske shock, reworked forks fitted in Adjustable offset yokes
and a
998bp engine with full 50mm system in a RS frame with Corse Mag arm, matching ohlins shock and rocker, Mag yokes with offset to suit arm and Ohlins forks

Spoilt for choice and sometimes hard to choose between them, they are both different yet both similar, neither are geared for top end speed as they are primarily built and setup for my favourite B roads
