Sprockets What is the consensus of opinion on sprocket sizes? My 93 strada is on 15/37 which I would imagine is standard size. Im not worried about top speed but want to increase acceleration, will changing the front to 14 make much difference or should I go bigger on the back too??:) |
Standard as you say is 15/37.Im using 14/37,its an improvement but if you want more acceleration I reckon you could go lower and the bike still be perfectly usable.Bought Tsubaki chain(its a strong one) and Renthal sprockets from Cornerspeed, excellent service-joined chain for me and good price. |
To improve acceleration, you need to increase the rear sprocket. To improve speed, you need to increase the front sprocket. But you can also improve acceleration to decrease the front sprocket. I don't know which is the best solution. I know I changed the rear sprocket of my supermoto to go faster :D |
i use 15/39, i don't like revving the tits off my bike and i feel a 14 tooth on the front is a bit low, for me anyway. the other concern with a 14 tooth sprocket is faster chain wear due to the smaller circumference, but it can't be that bad 748's have a 14 tooth std. |
Loony888 got me onto a 15/39 setup and the bike has a quicker and more usable sweetspot. It is a treat on mountain twisties when you are on the throttle. It gets rid of that lag effect before the revs have built up. |

and here i know its not for 888 but still some good info http://ducatisportingclub.com/xmb/vi...=9386#pid78060 |
It seems that 15/39 could be the way to go rather than a smaller front sprocket. Also a recommendation on the 916 bikes.. Any recommended suppliers? |
Glyn you tart...what are you posting in the 888 forum for. it's not even as if you know anybody who needs a sprocket for a 888 :P BTW: I've got no teeth on my standard 37 toother. Hmmmm...I wonder whether my standard chain would accomodate a couple more teeth. And....is the chain on a T8 a 520? looks like it. |
