Visit to Ducati Factory...

All,

Being a seasoned traveller, and having a customer nearby Bologna, I was looking forward to the possibility of including business with pleasure. Then reading Antonye's post that the official DSC trip has been cancelled I initially thought 'ARS3', then I thought I would ask for any advice on a short day trip to the factory.......

I'm not arranging a large scale visit, but would like to know if the factory would allow a visit from a small contingent of (possibly mainly DSCers), and if so what the smallest number is that would warrant a factory visit (red carpet treatment???)

Also who to contact at Ducati (press office??), etc etc.

Was planning on a flight directly to Bologna, and a short taxi-ride to the factory, to save time and the expense of a hire car.

Is anyone else planning a trip that I could stow-away on? Or anyone (esp from BHCN) desperately wanting to go soon. It might work out well...

Cheers
Jas

I would still be up for it if the opportunity arose!

I think we as a club need to get this up and running again, - I think we get a few extra smiles if we attend as the DSC rather than individuals. Perhaps get a list together of those that still want to go and when and we can approach this? My guess would be about 10 people. Don't put down end of may/begining of July, the place is over-run with Ducati owners club presidents. World Presidents meeting 31/5- 4/6.

OK,

So... if planned in advance a day trip via Forli (about 50km away from the factory) is possible, with a few cars to hire and if planned enough in advance, we could get the tickets through Ryanair - but would cost somewhere around £60 + taxes, if we went in say one month's time....

Total cost likely to be somewhere around £90 for the whole trip excluding carparking charges at the airport.....and it's just a day trip......

Still interested?

Or fly to Bologna, take a 5 min taxi to factory and pay about £160 all in
Less of interest??

Add a nights stay in a local hotel....... could be £140 all in - getting too expensive??

Interested in opinions of costs, and also ways to save some cash....

Was thinking middle to end of April........so any purchases from the factory shop could be put to good use over summer.....

Opinions??? - as this would be a group decision we won't get the perfect date/time slot, so throw in your suggestions.

Approx cost is £40 for flights to/from Forli if you book early enough with Ryanair's constant "sale". I have the contacts for the coach company who can supply transport of all sizes much cheaper than hiring cars, for about a tenner a head, and will ferry you about all day. Plus if you want (or can get!) lunch in the Ducati canteen that's usually another fiver on top.

As I said in the other thread, I'm still considering organising another one once things calm down a bit - next week after Cadwell would be good!
