Preload adjustment on 749

Can someone out there advise as to the best way to adjust the rear preload on a 749. There just doesnt seem to be enough room to turn the rings with a "C" spaner and using a punch and hammer just seems a bit gash to me.
Cheers

Punch and hammer I'm afraid,.....unless you want to unbolt the shock and do it out of the bike.
I use a bit of alloy bar,.....does'nt mark the collars too bad.......:sniff:

Thanks Keefy, punch and hammer it is then.

Don't you just love them Italians

True,....but there just is'nt a lot of space there to get a decent purchace on the collars.

ONce youve undone the lock nut, increasing the preload aint that bad using a c spanner, youve just got to be a bit inventive with turning it....and watch damaging your frame paint!

I think as a precaution I will tape the relevant frame parts. Although the VW touch up stick I have on the shelf is a surpriseingly good match I would rather not have to use it.
