Belts for my SL How much and from where can I get a set of belts for my SL mailorder, Fancy doing them myself so after a price for the bits Ian |
Nelly is the easy choice for all things Ducati for me but he's got limited storage space so he's not going to carry everything - would imagine he has a stock of belts though. Alternatively, JHP (Ducati Coventry) is very quick and easy for oem bits. |
john fallon at mdina italia is who supplied the belts in chi's FE :) http://www.mdinaitalia.co.uk/ |
and they should be around 30 quid the pair. |
Did the belts yesterday, must admit I didn`t expect the rear cam pulley to move like it did :o:o:o:o Was a little tricky to hold it on the mark and fit the belt but did it in the end, all tensioned up using the allen key method shown here http://www.buschandbusch.com/ducatisuite/home.html Just going to recheck the tension this morning, but to anyone thinking of having a go, all I can say is go for it, it only took me an hour all in being very cautious:D:D:D:D Cheers Ian |
david vs goliath There's a simple trick to avoid fighting the spring pulling the cam pulley away from the timing mark, shredding the tips of your fingers - just back off the drive shaft pulley by the same amount. Once you've slipped the belt over them you move the crank pulley back to its timing mark and check the cam pulley is aligned to its mark. If not, move the crank back to release the tension and adjust the belt a notch. Repeat for second belt. The valves are both closed when you can spin the cam pullies easily. |
