air box question :puzzled: the mechanic who repaired my 748 recently found that i have no air box lid or filter!!:( is this a common mod? am i gonna have issues? my mechanic friend says that i should'nt ride it in the rain (i already have!) and i've got snettaton at the end of aprill, i don't reckon i want gravel in the engine if i have an off:o should i get a filter asap? :D she does sound lovely though!! |
I think youll find the bottom of the tank is the air box lid on them old shape bikes....the filters are in the two plastic pipes that run from the front of the nose to the side of the airbox! |
The airbox should have a rubber seal around the edge which seals against the tank, as said above. One mod was to remove the filters from the airtubes and fit one large filter (JHP or similar) that covers both bell mouths. [Edited on 25-3-2006 by Carbon749] |
Find another mechanic!? :D |
As martin said, find another mechanic!!! Out of interest for your benefit, What has your "mechanic" been doing to your bike?????? Has he not worked on a ducati before???? |

no he hasn't, but he's learning!:rolleye: he's a mate of mine and therefore cheap!!:D i wouldn't have him do anything too serious, and theres a ducati mechanic who works at parki's in colchester living round the corner from him (good for advice) Thanks lads i don't feel too stupid! i spose i can only take it out on my mate!! :D |
Get your mechanic a manual to read before he touches your pride and joy again! God knows what he'll come up with next; Clutch noisy, Stand keeps springing up etc ;) |
