new wheels anyone changed thier wheels for forged alloy jobbies? Ive seen 'braking' wheels with discs for £899 and wondered if they were worth the expense? do they vastly improve the handling ? |
No,No,No,No,No,No................................. ........... |

They were fitted to my 999 fila and are fitted to my 749r. The bikes feel more "flickable" but I'm not sure if that is down to the wheels, Ohlins or a mixture of both. One consideration would be that they are only rated for 1 up riding :o if you have a BP or convert your mono for the odd 2 up ride then you may have problems. That is if you want to stick to the Ducati guidlines. |
Hi I run the 749R also and do believe the wheels make all the difference, although the bikes weight is more than my previous gixer1000 it feels much lighter on the road or track. If you find a pair at a good price go for it you can always sell them when you change bikes. Just be careful and check the history and signs of damage. Regards DaveO |
thanks for the replies gents - yes i had thought about the 2 up riding thing causing a problem and Id probably have to buy discs and tyres as well just so I could do a swap if the missus fancies a run out with me. suddenly looking very expensive. |
