Sprocket carrier nuts
 

I want to remove the nuts on the sprocket carrier and either replace them or clean them.

Can I remove them directly or do I need to attach an Allen key to the back of the sprocket carrier. I am running a quick release spocket system.

You'll need to put the allen key in otherwise they'll just turn.
