Speedo out of sync I purchased a damaged repairable 998 last year (the guy repaired it on the cheap and i'm now undoing his crap repairs) and Ive noticed my speedo is well out of sync. Reading high. When i rode the bike back home after purchase the speedo was showing 120 when it felt more like 95-100 (my motorway cruising speed.Dropped it backdown to follow a few trucks which travel usally dead on their speed limiter 56mph and it was showing 65mph. Any ideas? |
The speedo on my 916 is out too, standard gearing, checked against GPS, 30 shows as just under 40 so maybe it is a common thing. I am sure others here will know for sure. 10% seems to be pretty usual anyway, my Busa was showing about 215 when only doing 190. |
I had a direct comparison between my 996 and 998 on same day, 998 is well out compared to 996. Something is a miss. |
have you put different size sprockets on it? |
The speedo on these bikes picks up off the front wheel. Is the standard size/profile as per Handbook fitted?? 120/70 x 17? by memory If you have changed gearing it may mess up yer mental calcs of MPH per 1000 rpm but it doesn't affect the speedo reading! Ray. |
