Another snapped chain!!

Yet again just as everything was going fine this happens:

Firstly the seat release cable snapped underneath the seat, so i have to strip the underside down, bugger!

I decide not to let it bother me and ill go out for a blast, to cheer myself up!

I get to about 80, after slowing down, just about to get to the roundabout, and i loose all power and hear a grinding noise!

On looking down, the chain is rubbing my swingarm up!! Double Bugger! (This is the third one) On a 600 Monster??

On closer inspection the chain link had snapped on one side, throwing it off the sprocket (Taking a couple of teeth with it).

The damage 2 knackered and one powdercoated swingarm complete with scratches and grooves!!

I have 2 spare swingarms but i a looking for a 900 alloy jobbie if anyone has one!

Cheers

Yorkie

Little monster always were a crap chain manufacturer :P:P

Is there an alignment problem or are you (maybe) running it a bit on the tight side ?

The ST's need a bit of extra chain slack if you are a heftyish sort of rider, the 2 and 3 if adjusted to spec are very tight two up with luggage.

Chain was DID with renthal alloy sprockets, adjusted to spec and checked (Alignment) on the last MOT, last week!!

All was fine till i rolled it out of the garage, im thinking shaft driven for a change!!

(NOT)

With all due respect, Yorkie you must be doing something wrong to be suffering this problem so often - it's too much of a coincidence - or you have a mechanical problem somewhere that is killing the chains.

Whereabouts in North Yorks are you?

yorkie 08-Apr-2006 10:51

Well its not too much power!!

Near Ripon!
