oil light oil warning light comes on after a few miles of riding, typically under 10. have just done a full oil change, inc filter, so i know there is plenty of oil in it. been told its oil pressure switch faulty...apparently quite common....anyone experience of this problem please? |
yep, very common, about £18 I think ...... |
If there is any oil weeping from it, its on its way out, 5 minute job to change |
did mine on the st with a few miner probs http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm...2317#pid212248 |
thanks! there has been a little weepage (?) from around the top of the switch. presume it does actually let the oil drop low if it leaks then? thought it might be electrical as opposed to a seal gone that shows a drop in pressure. its on order so should be here soon!! |
Think that the weepage is a sign of the switch starting to fail, but as oil is'nt a good conductor of electricity maybe it affects the contacts?? Scared the living daylights out of me when mine failed :o:o:o |
changed it today...and after a 20 mile non spirited run, no oil light coming on! hurrah! thanks folks. |
the best way to blow them there oil switches is to slightly over fill your oil if that is why it went the first time and you change the switch without taking out a bit of oil you'll soon bugger up the new one an all cause thats what i did:( |
will bear that in mind Glyn! my oil is on maximum after a full change, yet it didnt take the whole recommended amount, so hope it will be okay. |
