Paddock stands and bobins Right, I have had it up to here with these effing paddock stands last night went to change the front wheel putthe bike on a Harris universal front paddock stand, come back today and the bikes on its side?? Is there any better system for the front? ie bobins but not the ones that fit through the axle as thats no good if you want to take the tyre off!! At the rear i have the R&G axle bobbins but there rubbish also cos you cant take the wheel out without removing the bobins! Whats everyone else using?:mad::mad: |
what age is your bike ie what swing arm? |
bit late now but you cant leave the bike on the front stand without it being on the rear stand as well it will move on the head stock and fall over as for the rear all the bikes ive ever owned have had the bobbins on the swinging arm apart from 996 which fits in axle but wheel comes off the other side |
Its a 749 on a 2003, couldnt put it on the rear stand because i wanted to take the rear wheel off but couldnt because the bobbins run through the axle so left it on the front only. So now until I get cups for the rear paddock stand i have put slabs under the side stand and slightly tilted it over on the stand by 2-3 degrees. |
All i can say is very poor design by ducati, no real suprise there! Unlike Japy's which would have a threaded instert in the swing are for cotton reels, poooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrr!! |

The 'proper' 749/999 stand has little rubber cups that fit under the chain adjusters. They do work very well. The abba stand is good, but only lifts the back end up,so you will need to use your front stand for wheel removal. Never use a front stand on its own,...no matter how well you think you have it chocked up. On my '03 999,I used an old DP stand for the 851/888.I just swapped the hooks for some Motrax rubber cups.Worked for me. [Edited on 19-4-2006 by KeefyB] |
On my 03 749s,use a single sided paddock stand on the rear and the front, the stand which has the rubber pads on it.Both DP items. |
Sorry to hear that matey! on my 999s I use . . . a single sided rear 748/996 stand for when I am in a rush a motrax rear stand with bobbins on the swinger a 748/996 front DP stand that fits nicely underneath the fork bottoms obviously it has the black 04+ swingarm, which I guess you dont. khushy |
