cheers mate, thanks for the offer. Gonna try and source some second hand tomorrow. if not there £95 EACH. If Eectrex have em in stoke. Bike was fine yesterday. tonight no sparks. Checked the wiring though, done all the checks and it all points to them expensive little black boxes. Seems stange for both to go at the same time though, have you ever heard of that?

AK 20-Apr-2006 21:55

normally just one goes.
try a check on the pick up coils to check the resistances on them too.
i will also have a spare and relay pack if you cant find glyn on sunday to lend you for the day tho i do need them back.

Andy C 20-Apr-2006 21:59

Pick-up relays are brandnew, that was last weeks problem. Done all the tests with the multi-meter all's reading as it should do. thanks for the offer.

Scooter916 20-Apr-2006 23:13

Andy not sure how true this is but apparently, starting a bike with low battery or jumping it can fry these little boxes in no time. the monster i just broke had the same issue just before i got it apparently.

right then, the saga continues- went out this morning turned the bike over, there's now sparks at the plugs? Then the sparks stopped and then they started again? Have some new cdi units being delivered tomorrow morning. Brand new from Electrex. The only thing i have'nt replaced yet is the battery, and i'm doing that tomorrow. Has anybody else suffered with this problem cause i can't get my head round it.

AK 21-Apr-2006 15:10

wiring to the coils is sometimes suspect on these bikes

Scooter916 21-Apr-2006 19:49

I Recon your cdi units may cure this fault. We get bikes all the time that start then die straight away(lost spark) it almost always the CDI. The bikes are piaggio scooters but guess who makes the cdi`s....... Yea baby Mr Ducati.
Keep us informed

Also depends how you have things wired, could be as simple as a poor condition engine run/kill switch
