Do a search under "ride height tool" By "Harv748" in the "916" section.

Not sure if it helps, but my RS factory setting are:
Fully extended - 235mm
Static Sag - 10mm
1G loaded - 20mm

(taken from a previous item from Harv after i bought one of his tools)

Firstly I need to apologise for going over this again having thought I had it correctly covered last time out...but alas not...the story continues.

You may have had a play with the tool (!) and found the reading to be to your liking or not???

I have in the mean time had an opportunity to get my hands on a geuine tool once again (not many of them about!) and have been comparing the reading I get from it to mine...and what do you know...they are a little different.

On my bike, the genuine tool measures approx 225 mm unlaiden sag (ie with the rear of the bike off the floor)...where as mine measures approx 245mm...ie approx 20mm difference.

Now, one of two things has happened here...either the drawing I had (which was derived from a gehuine tool) was doctored in such a way as to allow for the wheel nut (i.e. 21mm = halve of the wheel nut), which is possible as it was an autocad drawing, which would allow this to be done quite easily or;

The drawing was in some way incorrect.

Either way...the tool is still valid as it will work in the following manner.

If you have a standard rear wheel nut...then the reading you take with the tool is the total reading (ie, no need to add the 21 mm for the nut).

I hope that makes sense...and again...apologies for this seeming a little trial and error...

Of course, at the end of the day, the purpose of the tool is to allow you to reach a setting you are happy with (whatever it measures) and then record it, allowing you to go back to it time and time again after chain adjustments/sprocket changes etc...

If you want a reading that relates to the figures provided in the notes (eg. 245 being a good value) then you need to just take the reading at face value and not add the additional 21mm for the nut. It then equates directly to the Genuine ducati tool

I found the ride height tool didnt help for initial setup, its ok for reference following chain adjustment etc, dont confuse the measurements for a genuine Ducati tool(if you can find any),the tools are different. The only figure commonly available is the tie rod length between centres-261mm according to Haynes.Once the sags set, then everything else is a compromise. The section8superbike site has a good guide, but its really a job for an expert to set up suspension properly.Ive always been pleased with Maxton, but theres a few to choose from.

I have a John Hacket tool if any one needs to borrow it , once you know the height with that then you can use any other tool ,just plus/minus any difference

But as said in doogalmans post its 20mm , but if any one needs my tool to put their mind at rest then let me know :bouncy:

Trust me guys... I spent hours looking over this thing trying to get to the bottom of the readings...the literature that you recived with the tool is spot on.

Nicks already requested a new set of instructions off me as he has mislaid his originals...
