Whats the best way of securing my bike in a van?

I have got to take the bike down to the dealer in a van tomorrow :( . I've got hold of some ratchett straps but does anyone have any advice on the best place to attach the straps on the bike? Presumably two front, two rear. The two at the front up near the headstock with the front brake held on, and the two at the rear somewhere on the rear subframe? I dont have a paddock stand (yet) so cant use that to help keep it upright.

Thanks,
Ben

If you don't have a stand of some sort it is better to tight the bike up on against a side of the van.

Strap it around the headstock taking care not to trap any cables, then as weeksy suggests the pillion pegs or through the frame. Dont strap your brake lever you can do that with a bit of string seperately.
One thing you might need is something to put beneath the sidestand, when I brought my bike up here,350 miles, earlier this year I found my sidestand had gone through the plywood floor of the transit and it was only the tension of the straps stopped it from falling over.:D:D

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't considered strapping it to the side of the van.. now, where's that old duvet?
