Overlarge Spark Plug Gap Just a quickie. I changed the plugs today and on getting the old ones out, I noticed that the last person who serviced the bike (before I owned it, I hasten to add) hadn't gapped the plugs - they'd left them with the "out of the box" gap ie: around 1mm+. What would be the effects of an oversize plug gap? I gapped the new ones to 0.5 - 0.6mm as per Haynes. Thanks [Edited on 3-5-2006 by zhed44] |
The cylinder would fire slightly later than it should. Ains. |
The larger the gap, the better the throttle response. But, too large a gap will result in more misfires. http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm...0432#pid301446 |

Due to more fuel/air mix between the gap. Ains. |
