Ah - happiness is getting back on the 916 Well after 6 months off the road, the old trusty 916 is back in service. Had a full topend rebuild and a few other things. granted it took an age but its back and runs. I forgot just how great this bike is to ride, and its niggles too. Riding position is great, its surefooted, has a nice load of grunt and is easy to live with and ride. Sadly the rose tinted specs dont hide the following, brakes are a bit past thier sell by, it runs worryingly hot still, has electrical issues (will be sorted soon) and the clutch jangles nice when in, but sounds dreadfull when out below 3k So still much more to do to it, and with the spain trip only days away i dont think i am going to chance it after last time. I need a couple of thou miles on it before i trust it yet, get the new loom fitted, and new water pump / stat and see how she behaves then for the july / aug france blast. Didnt want to be forced to using the new CBR but common sense rears its head. the old 916 is comfier and easier to ride over the cbr, yet while the new 600rr would leave it dead after 80 i do love the low down clock shaking stomp. ah its still good to have the old girl back though even if she does have issues |
Can't argue with any of them sentiments mate.... i'm in exactly the same position only recently after having quite a while off the Ducati same as yourself. the Grunty feel of it is truely second to none. |
