When was the last time you checked your rectifier wiring, guys?

With the warmer weather, the bikes are starting to get a bit hotter, and that's gonna take its toll on your loom. Some bikes are getting their first runs out since the winter, too.

My bike's been runninga poorly lately, only sporadic, but a bit of coughing and spluttering at times. Was going to get the tank drained and the fuel filter checked, but thought first I'd check the Famous Yellow Wires of the rectifier wiring.

So, off with the battery and tray tonight when I got home, and what did I find?

:o :o :o

And it wasn't too long ago looked at them, and they were fine, honest! ;)

I think I caught it just in time. :)

So do yourself a favour, check yours out.

Fred...are you using choc-block suitably rated for the amount of current being carried? Probably 20-30A.

Yeah, better than the rubbish standard connectors.

Still need keeping an eye on, though!

Likewise - I'm changing the rectifier on my 900ss and was surprised to find the dreaded yellow bullet connectors from the genny had started melting the plastic surround. Just in time methinks....

Good post !
