Oil leak When doing some cleaning a while ago I noticed some oil behind the vertical cylinder on the opposite side to the crank case breather. There was no oil caught just below the breather which makes me think its not the culprit. I've kept an eye on this for the last two weeks and the ammounts of oil (going by the sightglass seem to be very small. 1: should I be worried 2: any ideas where it may be coming from 3: what do I do to cure it if it is the breather. Any help would be welcome. Heh .. it might be more helpfull if I add that its a 2000 ST2. [Edited on 12-5-2006 by wayned] |
I had that! :) Ducati coventry said they could fix it but it would cost ££££££ so I left it because it was only a very small amount and was notgoing anywhere apart from in a little pool at the base of the cyclinder. I think it only did it when the engine was really hot because I haven't noticed it during winter. In my opinion, if you can afford it, fix it because it's better safe than sorry. Else wait until the next service. :frog: Update: my was leaking from where the rear cyclinder tower met the main case, on the opposite side to the shock. [Edited on 12-5-2006 by moozaad] |
Might be the rear cyclinder base gasket. |
It will be the o rings between the head & barrel... mine did that too. Providing it's only a bit I'd live with it.... I did until the next service & Nelly sorted it for me. |
To quote a phrase from the salesmans handbook.... ''Don't worry sir, they all do that.'':D [Edited on 13-5-2006 by philthy] |
