What make do you use
 
Im just about to do an Oil,filter,plug, fuel filter and airfilter change on my sl any recomedations on makes for the above and should i stay clear of any particular products

OilFilter: I prefare the K&N item as it has a nut built into the end for easy removal
Airfilter: K&N again, expensive but reusable with a cleaning / oiling kit both available from:

or Hein Gerick / M&P etc.

Plugs: I've tried NGK and Platinum plugs and thought the Platinum plugs helped starting (a bit) but I'm not convinced the running is any smoother) - some peeps are saying try a different grade of plug for the rear cylinder as it runs hotter but I've not been down this road yet !!!

Fuel Filter - stick with Ducati OEM I think - following Dereks recommendation I'm moving mine to OUTSIDE of the fuel tank (not sure exactly where yet, mind) but I cant see the logic of having a replacable item - inside the fuel tank). PS - Newer style filter I was sold is metal bodied as opposed to the original plastic one inside the tank.

Oil filter: Ducati
Fuel filter: Ducati
Air filter: K&N
Plugs: NGK Iridium
Oil: Any decent 15w-50 fully or semi-synth

This is in an 800ss.

My god Shaazam certainly goes into things

What ngk plug is suitable for a 900 superlight, the manual only states champion

As for oil I think that i will stick with a semi-synthetic, It seems that some people dont think the bike needs fully

Im a bit confused about spark plugs

using the NGK site It converted the following

the standard plug is DPR8EA-9 converted to DPR8EIX-9

but the standard plug in the haynes book is Champion RH6HC which converts to DCR8EIX

So which would be best to use??

Also any ideas where I can get a k+n filter from online

K+N Air filter £47.61 Demon Tweeks,or direct from K+N.
Pipercross Air Filter £45.24 Demon Tweeks or direct Pipercross.
Personal preference Pipercross.

It NOW recommends std plug: DCPR8E

or Iridium Plug: DCR8EIX

which is not how I remember it, to tell the truth. There did used to be some differences when cross-referencing from one manufacturer to another.

If all else is Ok i'd try a std plug first, the if you want to try an Iridium plug or some other in a little while you can always keep em as spares!

Just to clear some confusion. With NGK the plugs the -9 indicates that the plug is pre-gapped to .9mm i.e. 35 thou.
The C in DCPR means it has a copper core
and the A in DPR8EA-9 means it has a "Special electrode" whatever that is.
IX means an Iridium centre electrode
So a DCPR8E is the same plug as a DPR8EA-9 but with a wider heat range due to the copper core and it has a standard gap of, I think, 0.6mm and something different about the electrode.
The IX versions are the same plugs with an iridium electrode.
So a DCPR8E or DCPR8EIX should be a suitable replacement for a DPR8EA-9 or DCPR8EIX-9 apart from the gap which you can increase if you wish.
Ducati recommends 0.6mm but the igntion system is quite capable of firing the 0.9mm gap which reduces the chance of plug fouling.
I think NGK have just updated their plug refernces to reflect the improved performance of their newer technologies.
