Rear Ohlins spring Hello, After an excelent day at Oulton Park, found my rear spring was too soft causing the rear to step out, scared the hoot out of me. 1096-16-6.5 fitted 748bp can you advise on an alternative please. TopiToo |
Steve - I had one from ktech, they are only about £30 from memory are you sure its the spring? Youre not a big bloke and I would have thougt it could be sorted with a bit of adjustemnt, especially with ohlins...might be worth a chat with skids if youre coming out tomorrow |
Hello Bradders, I will ring KTech, thanks for that, I had the suspension guy at Oulton look over the bike, and ideally he said I would need a stiffer spring. TopiToo |
Got a 6.5 on mine, weigh about late 10 to early 11 stone, do track days & carry the misses on the back, works fine for me, maybe it needs a service??? Chris. :burn: |
Check here for the spring rates you need. Generally a soft rear spring does not cause the rear to step out. Too much preload, too much spring rate and too much compression damping will. This is a useful site for decoding Ohlins spring rates and what rates you should be choosing. |
I've got a spare from when I had mine uprated...I'll try and dig it out and its yours if you want it (and its heavier than yopurs of course) |

or the shock is fully bottomed out and you've got no suspension at that point so tyre slips, so it might depend upon whether its sliding into the corner or exiting as you gas it and the rear has squated as far as it can. |
I doubt very much it is anywhere near bottomed out though ;) He'd have to be a right porker to do that. |

Hello, I was told after the settings done, that I will notice/feel as if the bike is stepping out, ie ( exiting as you gas it and the rear has squated as far as it can) and not to worry, as this is normal, however the bike stepped out big time more than once, and put the fear of god into me. The info I have is that there was no room for adjustment, dont get me wrong the bike felt different, just not safe enough for me. I have tried to contact Nolimits for a contact number for Colin (suspension guy) but as yet nothing. I am thinking alone the lines, my settings have been changed, by somebody who claimed to know Ducati's, I hope I am wrong, but needs sorting. TopiToo |
I have just had my Ohlins serviced by K-tech, these are the settings they put on the shock after servicing it. Spring....64N Compression...10 clicks/turns out ( turn adjuster fully in(clockwise) then turn out(anti-clockwise). Rebound....18 clicks/turns out sag without rider 14 to 20mm These are base settings to work from to get the shock how you like it. hope this helps. Do not forget to write down your present settings so that you can compare them to the above. Chris. :burn: |
