Clutch wear

Just picked my bike up from it's MOT, pulled away and got the dreaded judder and squeal. Had a look at the clutch plates and theres not much life in them at all.
The worrying thing is that this clutch only has about 2500 miles on it.
Any ideas on what would be causing the short life span of my clutch?

Cheers

Dave

Don't take the fact that there's not much meat on the friction plates as meaning the clutch is worn. They tend to look knackered from new.

Judder and squeal when pulling away usually means the clutch needs cleaning out. Take off the cover, remove the six bolts holding on the clutch pressure plate and remove all the friction and metal plates. Give them a good clean, reassemble and Bob's ya uncle...

If you need more details a quick search will probably provide more info than you'll ever need....

Dave,

for info:
new friction plates are 3.0mm with a wear limit of 2.5mm
and
2.0mm and 1.5mm steel plates should only need replacing if they are warped or scored

as Darren says - probably just needs a good clean

:)

I've had to replace the sprung plate as that had flattened out. The metal plate wit a dot stamped into it. Should be dished in shape.
