Tickover

What should the tickover be when the engine is warm on a ss/sl. Mine seems to be about 1200 when warm but the other day it got very hot and would only tickover at 1600, is this normal??

Does not sound quite right - I set mine high for a while to get the charge light to go off at a standstill.

Factory workshop manual says 1200 to 1300 rpm.

Our DD bikes do this after a race when very hot, Nowt to worry about mate, Its a lean mixture at idle caused by the heat.

It's a fine balance to getting it to idle from cold while not having it too high for when it is warm.

I'd rather sit on the bike with my hand on the throttle for 30 seconds when cold than have too high an idle when warm. 1,600 sounds too high to me.

Thanks a lot guys it seems normal then, It was very hot when tickover was at 1600

I've found the same. Under extreme heat the tick over raises from the normal 1200 to about 1600. This is really rare though and only in the absolute scorching sunshine.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.
