New tyres

What tyre sizes would be best suited for my 2000 900ssie?

Any suggestions?

120/70 x 17" front
170/60 x 17" rear or 180/55 x 17" rear.

There's a wider choice of rubber using the 180 section tyre so, I'd go for that.

what i really want is Diablo corsas or Pilot power 2ct.

They only come in 180/55-17 rears.

Do a 180 rear slow up the steering?

And do they rub?

I used 180/55's on my 800ss - no probs there at all. I've not notice any issues with steering. The 5.5 rim is a little wide for 170's in my opinion looking at how they wear.

You'll be fine with Diablos or Pilot Power 2cts. Even on standard Diablos you have to be very brave before they start to move.

I posted a while back how impressed I was with the pilot powers, dont think you'll need the 2ct things.
Put it this way. the powers were the only tyre going on to my 999.
This months superbike has a test of tyres and the powers came out on top
You will not go wrong with them

Don't hear too much about any Bridgestone fans in the Ducati community for some reason, but my wife has the BT-014's (120/70 & 180/55) on her 800 and loves them. Huge improvement over the 170/60 that came on it, especially since it has a 5.5" wheel anyways. Any change in steering responsiveness lost by going to a 180 (which was nil btw) was more than made up for in stability, lean angle, and looks. You will be very happy with a 180 in probably any tire.

Was there a BT-014 in that tire test?? Where did it come out??

Pilot power 2ct are bought...
