Andy J An update on his hand. He has now had his hand set in plaster this morning - after the official confirmation that he HAD broken his scaphoid in his right hand on his holiday 10 days ago. It might have to be plated, but he wont know till another 10 days or so:( We'd both like to say a huge thanks to him, and hope that the big fella mends quickly. He cant unfortunately access the internet at the moment (blaming BT - so Bones, please sort this out!) but wants us to say well done to everyone out there yesterday - particularly Lord Rattler for his blinding finishes, and also to Ian (The Old Man) for some great battling. Domski - for some reason Andy reckons he will try & be out at Donnington - he's looking forwards to it already he says!:D - are all you racers mad???????????????:o |
He's a brave fella and no mistake - GWS(ish);) Tim |
Ouch! That would smart a bit :) Not being funny or anything but the scaphoid takes AGES to heal because it has a poor bloody supply (I broke mine playing basketball in 1996). I was a very fit soldier, only 21 years old and it still took around 8 weeks. Seriously, take your time coming back mate. If you damage it again while it's healing you risk damaging it's bloody supply and permanently weakening the bone. The bone I broke in my ankle last year (Talus) is very similar in that it has a poor bloody supply etc (only it's 3 times the size and is the main weight bearing bone in the ankle) and the consultant I was seeing at the private hospital told me if I rushed I'd risk collapsing the top part of the bone and if that happened, she would have to fuse part of my ankle in place - basically I'd have to walk with quite a limp forever from that point. I took that very seriously and just waited. Make sure you get GOOD advice mate ... AND LISTEN TO IT!!! Although we all know you won't :rolleye: :D |
Yep, scaphoids...slowest healing bone in your body. I did both of mine in a Kawasaki/Security van interface. Took 12 weeks in plaster for me and my wrists still give me jip on cold days (luckily, riding the bike doesn't affect them) but if you don't let them heal properly you're also setting yourself up for arthritis when you get older. |
That is bad news. I hope it heals quickly for him coz I need you guys to make me more fasterer - riding with fear has never been so much fun ;) GWS Andy. See you at Donny & Snett & Cadwell  :D |
Very bad news, hope you get well soon mate. Even so, beating me by 3 hundreths of a second in each race when you had no steering and broken hand..... :o See you at Donny for more fun and games. Ali |
Get well soon brave boy I have the greatest respect for you it's no fun racing with an injury so get it mended properly, we will keep your place for you as we need the close racing all the best mate. Chass. |
Ouch :( Brave racing with an injury, heal quick :) |
Bad news but it explains the FAT FINGERS. Rally sorry to hear and it underlines your performance at Oulton. I wont be at Donny but here's hoping you're out there fighting at Snett and Cadders - will feel like a hollow victory otherwise!! |
I remember that bone being broken myself... hurts to ******y... impressive performance... really well done :) I'll get him a beer on Sat at the BBQ. :) |
