924cc kit

has anyone had this done to a 749 or know anyone thats done it?
i read somwhere there is a 924cc kit with pistons the same weight as the standard 749 so it keeps the same red line and is supposed to be as fruity as a 999.
mine's now a high miler (for a duke) but with no problems and can't decide whether to upgrade or chop it in for it's big brother

Why not just buy a 999 and put 749 badges on it..........lot cheaper!

Hi,

Below a link that explain what to do and what you get. I think I somewhere read that this kit was about 500-600 £ ex gaskets and labour.

The BCM Ducati (USA) kit is 920cc, 11,5:1 comp., $1195 retail, 8 hours labour, gaskets $200.

Probably a little more pricey. Here's a link to a kit from Kaemna in Germany with the 924 conversion listed at 1,380 Euros.

I like the theory behind big bore engines though...keep the revvy nature of the 749 with a good deal more grunt.

Whether it's worth doing is a different matter, I would have thought that the price of doing it once the costs of all the sundry items, labour and setup time had been added you'd be better off part exchanging for a 999

are the valves on a 749 the same size as a 999, if not you will not get the same bhp, just a thought.

Well, depend were you are living :). In DK the price differens is about 7.000£ 749 contra 999, so ? In DK we buy 1 and pay for 3 :( .
