The Motocycle Comic

(from Neil, occasionally of this parish...)

What's interesting about this week's issue is the colour pic of Barry
Sheene on page 11 (part of a fascinating four-page photo spread of old
unseen Sheene pix).

There he is, in his leathers, and on his shoulder there's a sponsorship
patch for Motor Cycle Weekly - which, as us old farts will remember, was
the 'other' weekly and MCN's deadly rival until MCN succeeded it putting
it out of business, in the early 1980s.

Look closely at that patch. You can see the words MOTOR and CYCLE
clearly, but the word WEEKLY looks like it's been munged - it's
illegible. It really looks as if MCN has photoshopped it, presumably to
make people think it was an old MCN patch.

I'm sure they haven't, of course. *Cough*. I mean, I can't imagine
anyone being that petty. Can you? But go and have a look for
yourselves...

Erm....I'm sorry to have to defend MCN - their "we got the only world, ever, super-exclusive one-off only ever" mentality does my head in...

But, on my copy - I can clearly read on the patch, the word 'weekl' with the 'y' disappearing around Barry's arm anyway.

You might have got a poor quality print ????

REALLY, funny though IMHO is the mis-print on pg 28 about the FP1 road test,

"With an extra 1000cc the FP1 could have been the bike that dominated WSB"

:lol::lol::lol: - I'd hope so !!!
