My weekend I've had a fantastic time up in the Lake District, courtesy of Mike and Linzi. Forgot to take my camera but used my phone for a couple of snaps. Took the scenic route off the A1 and this picture of my bike is close to Sedbergh on the way to Kendal. Different to riding the 996 with the BHCN on RTL but every bit as exciting. That Monster is a superb touring bike, although I do have to get off after 100 miles or so to de-numb my bum. I went to M & L's via Ravenstondale where I visited some friends who have a great weekend retreat - a beautiful old stone farmhouse. Yesterday, Mike took me out to ride Hartside. What an absolutely amazing ride that is. And the views! To die for. I just love my Monster and she performed beautifully behind Mike's T9 (yellow but very fast!). We went down to Ullswater in the afternoon where he got me out on the lake in a 29er - very capsizable dinghy. The water, I can report, is exceptionally warm this time of year. I've got quite a few bruises to show for our efforts and was too worn out this morning to take up the offer from Mike's partner in crime, John, to sail his Laser. Next time, though, definitely. Not as hot this weekend as RTL but the only rain was after getting so wet in Ullswater that it didn't matter! This morning we rode a fantastic route up Hartside, with Mike and Linzi 2 up and me panniered up, then Middleton and Teeside before Mike led me back down the A66 onto the A1. Came back down in a straight line before nipping through Woburn and down the Leighton Buzzard Road. I definitely think my own private Raid the Lakes trip was on a par with RTL, different to RTL but every bit as good. Once again, trouble posting photos. Will keep trying. |
Big surprise I can't post my photos. No problem posting them on the DuN site so here's the address if you'd like to look at them http://www.ducati-upnorth.com/forum/...ead.php?t=2115 |

ha ha ha ... quality write up Ruth .. and i returned yer call Fri :) |
You certainly are getting the miles in Ruth, Your trip sounds a lot better than mine did this morning. Got out on the road for 0630 to meet up with Fil and Kelly for a little blat around the Western Route, Daventry,Bambury etc. Though I would refuel at Towcester as I was running on vapour turns out it was closed , 400 meters further to Jacks Im out of fuel. Waits for Fil to arrive and mean while Ive scavenged a piece of hose pipe so I can syphon out a pint from Fils bike. Four mouthfuls of unleaded and with little going into the tank Fil goes of to another garage and get help, a guy who is racing at Rockingham volunteers to call back and helpout with a funnel and can. Great. Just about to start the ride out when me phone goes off , it the Airport Im still on Standby ( Smart arse though I would get away with it) So my plan to get out before the world woke up back fired. I find Im working all day on break downs. So its nice to read some one had a good one . 4D |
